The original pattern, Blue Fluted Plain, produced in 1775, has been modified, reinterpreted and redesigned during its lifetime without compromising its luster, appeal and originality. In this pattern, Blue Fluted Mega, the designer, Karen Kjaeldgard-Larsen, undertook a bold step in parsing a small segment of one quadrant of the design and enlarged it in a fashion that the new layout fills the plate completely without affecting the brilliance of the original form. It is enlarged almost four-fold and hence the term "mega". The design in every item of this pattern is the "mega" version of some part of the original pattern. The new "mega" design, created in 2000, while slightly deviating from the norm, is creative, authentic and individualistic.
